Update Jan 2019 It must be almost 20 years now doing these daily fishing trips, and still a pleasure being out there on the open ocean. Our big boat which we started using in December 2016 has been working very nicely, we weathered many a storm out there with no more damage than a few coffee mugs going overboard. Nice to have a strong and seaworthy boat when the weather suddenly turns against you, and the ancient Gardner marine diesel chugging happily away day after day without missing a beat. […]

It must be almost 20 years now doing these daily fishing trips, and still a pleasure being out there on the open ocean. Our big boat which we started using in December 2016 has been working very nicely, we weathered many a storm out there with more damage than a few teacups going overboard. Nice to have a strong and seaworthy boat when the weather suddenly turns against you, and the ancient Gardner marine diesel chugging happily away day after day without missing a beat. Fishing this year started very […]

Sailfish-November

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

7.30am sailfish landed already.nice size this time. Good to see them finally hitting artificial, this time a small blue/white  llander lookalike. This should be peak season for sailfish, usually can expect about 50% success rate if targeting them, while the schools are here.

November and some action.

Nice calm start to the monsoon season. Main targets are marlin and sailfish until January. They have been biting everywhere, sailfish mainly inshore and marlin further out. Live bait working much better than trolling, but that can change at any time. Here is a photo of an Indian thread fish(alectis indicus), not an everyday catch. We get a lot of the similar African pompano(alectis ciliaris). This little guy was jigged up from Unicorn shipwreck this morning. I have been trying to keep an update going on our Facebook page. Fishing […]

October 2014 Update

By: | Tags: | Comments: 1

2014 has zipped by. Not one of the most memorable years for fishing, we go into the season’s change with anticipation. Huge schools of tuna have been chasing baitfish up to the surface a mile or so west of Nangyuan together with hundreds of wheeling and diving seabirds. Great to see, and with the tuna’s arrival we can look forward to the bill fish. Marlin have been hitting live baits and lures at Chumpon pinnacle this week, but still didn’t hook up any sailfish inshore. Mackerel are biting at the […]

late June 2014 update

By: | Tags: | Comments: 1

Windy weather over the last month hasn’t helped the fishing. It also seems this year the annual mackerel migration has somewhat bypassed Koh Tao. Catches have been significantly lower than usual, hopefully this will change after the wind drops off. Further offshore mahi are biting fairly well, but it’s a good 90 minutes or more to run out to the area so calm weather is a must. I will do dry docking at some stage in the next couple of months, which will take a week or so for annual […]

May 2014 update

By: | Tags: , , , , , , | Comments: 0

Welcome to our new website, hope it’s all up and running and email working fine. Well it’s summer time here, weather has been mostly calm, sunny and very hot. Main targets have been mackerel and mahi. Mackerel have been biting quite well on deep trolled wire line outfits, not the most sporting method but always nice to hear a ringing clicker. Slow trolled livebaits around the pinnacles has delivered some nice fish, but not many days with a wide open bite. It has been very unpredictable, one day we can […]

December 2013 fishing report

By: | Tags: , | Comments: 1

Lots of marlin and sailfish in the bay and at the pinnacles but it has proven difficult to get them to bite. Trolling has been very poor, the only bites have come from live baits fished with the anchor down. This can and should change at any time, we usually do very well trolling surface lures. To pass the time waiting for billfish to bite we have been sending livebaits to the bottom with mixed results. Some snappers, groupers, cobia, queenfish and occasionally some trevally. Yesterday Magnus from Denmark did […]
