September 2015

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

September and the change in season is yet again upon us. As the month progresses we will see the annual arrival of both sailfish and small black marlin, their arrival at the same time as the huge schools of anchovy. My strategy for catching the billfish is not particularly exciting – generally using a livebait and letting the livebait do the work. While this works very well, and allowed us an average of 1 billfish/fishing day last season, if you need to be actively playing with a rod all day […]

November and some action.

By: | Tags: | Comments: 1

Nice calm start to the monsoon season. Main targets are marlin and sailfish until January. They have been biting everywhere, sailfish mainly inshore and marlin further out. Live bait working much better than trolling, but that can change at any time. Here is a photo of an Indian thread fish(alectis indicus), not an everyday catch. We get a lot of the similar African pompano(alectis ciliaris). This little guy was jigged up from Unicorn shipwreck this morning. I have been trying to keep an update going on our Facebook page. Fishing […]

May 2014 update

By: | Tags: , , , , , , | Comments: 0

Welcome to our new website, hope it’s all up and running and email working fine. Well it’s summer time here, weather has been mostly calm, sunny and very hot. Main targets have been mackerel and mahi. Mackerel have been biting quite well on deep trolled wire line outfits, not the most sporting method but always nice to hear a ringing clicker. Slow trolled livebaits around the pinnacles has delivered some nice fish, but not many days with a wide open bite. It has been very unpredictable, one day we can […]

Summer is well and truly upon us. Early starts help us to beat the heat, and hopfully enjoy a decent early morning bite. Most fishing this season is at the pinnacles or fads. Standard day is a mix of trolling and livebaiting, approx 4 hours of each. Pls contact me directly for more info or to schedule a booking. 6am-2pm max 2 persons.

Autumn fishing

By: | Tags: , , | Comments: 0

Sailfish starting to show up, mainly inshore. Most days still fishing offshore at the pinnacles with a quick try at an inshore mark on the way back. Mackerel bit has been a bit slow so far this month, lots of fish around but not feeding so well. Mahi are averaging 2-3 kg so good fun on light tackle although they have been biting far offshore so we need good weather to get out there. Here is 2 pics sent by Dorian who came to fish in June. Mackerel and a […]

What a Month!

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

With all the negative press concerning dwindling fish stocks, 90% of big fish are gone etc etc it comes as a surprise to report that June/July so far this year have been the best mackerel fishing in the 15 years that I have fished for them here. Many days we can get 10 nice fish in a morning and they have been biting at all the usual sites, even close inshore at sandbanks and shark island. Small mahi have been the plan B, but they have been nervous recently. Weather […]

Fishing update

By: | Tags: , , , , | Comments: 1

Many apologies again for no updates in such a long time. So, fishing has been very good. There was no NE monsoon this year so water is still very clear. Mackerel still biting offshore and a few sailfish and small marlin too. Billfish have been a bit dissapoining this season. Smaller size than usual and less of them. I can’t ever remember catching mackerel in early december before so thats a bonus. Lots of small tuna around now so trolling has been fun. Most days fishing 7-10 miles offshore. Today, […]

Customer testimonial

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

Email/pics recieved this week from satisfied customer R.L. in the UK. Had 2 fantastic days out with Marc off Koh Tao, one in early January when we caught Travelly and a King Mackerel and again late March when we caught Dolphin fish. On both days other boats in area failed to catch. Having been fishing off Koh Toa before on other boats and had to endure other non anglers on boat, inferior and poorly maintained tackle that failed when big fish hooked it was pleasing to find Marc’s tackle of […]

Spring action 2013

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

Weather and fishing have been excellent so far this season. Mahi are here in huge numbers and also bigger than average size, mackerel are coming on the bite, but a bit hit and miss. One day will be biting very quickly while the next day with identical conditions may not even give a single bite. Marlin have been biting at the FADs, and also inshore nearby sandbanks and Nangyuan, sometimes even at the pinnacles. Adam caught this lovely little black marlin a few days ago with a trolled rapala just […]

Dry docking

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

Many apologies to bookings in the 2nd half of march. I must take the boat out of the water tomorrow as it has sprung a serious leak. Expect to be back in business before the end of the month. I can arrange for a friend to take you fishing, or you can book up with the group tours until my boat is repaired.
