By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

On the plus side, trevally are on the chew. Today Haki landed a 7.6kg gold spot, trolling inside Nangyuan. Weather has been poor and we did not get to fish much outside. No marlin when we did, but some nice trevally on the bottom.

March fishing update

By: | Tags: , , , , , , | Comments: 0

King mackerel have finally started biting well. Chumpon pinnacles seems the most reliable place at the moment, although I hear that Samran pinnacle also fishing well. Fish are taking trolled lures and dead baits fished deep. We have had some great days targetting mahi-mahi this month and alot of fish around the 4 kilo mark which were exciting to take on the light spinning gear. I will try and get the boat over to Chumpon tonight for the annual dry dock and general service, and hope to be able to […]

October update

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

Site is back online again! Weather has been poor, but fishing remains excellent when its calm enough to get out. Still plenty of mackerel from 5 to 10kg at Chumpon pinnacle, and the sails and marlin are around. I have seen schools of sailfish feeding close-by to Nangyuan but didn’t try for them yet. The winter tuna schools have also arrived but not readily biting hooks yet. This should get easier as we come into the new year.

Mackerel update

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

No customers for the last two weeks, hardly surprising considering the red-shirt lunatics at Bangkok. Mackerel still biting very well. To update the last entry, jigging has now taken macks from 1.5kg to 15kg. Best days were the 18th and 19th. Had 5 nice mackerel up to 15kg in just 2 hours. Also a 5.5kg queenfish. I don’t have any livebait left but other boats were doing fairly well using any big livebaits today. All action was at Chumpon pinnacle. I hear other spots also fishing very well. Big shame that […]

Spring mackerel run

By: | Tags: , , , , | Comments: 0

The spring king mackerel run is now in full swing. Small green boat caught at least 20 decent fish trolling deep dead baits around Chumpon pinnacle yesterday. Also mackerel are hitting jigs. Small silver slabs of about 50-60g with a very fast retrieve working the best. We have had fish up to 8kg jigging this week. Mahi between 1 and 3kg still around in plague numbers.

Mack’ and Marlin madness!!!!

By: | Tags: , , , , | Comments: 0

It just doesn’t get any better than this, regardless of where you are fishing. Bite has been wide open for the last 10 days. Narrow barred mackerel and marlin have been eagerly hitting jumbo livebaits, as well as dead baits. We have had marlin action every day, today landing 2 fine fish. Renowned German angler Mr.Haki had a good workout today fighting the two fish on light standup gear.First fish on 13kg line and the second on 10kg line. We are now almost fully booked until the middle of March, […]

Early start to the mackerel season

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

Due to the very weak monsoon and almost zero rainfall, we are enjoying some unseasonally clear water. There are plenty of mackerel around inshore and offshore taking livebaits and deep running lures. Average size has been small between 3 and 5 kilos. We saw some billfish feeding on the surface at Maehaad bay as we left the harbour this morning. Sadly the netters were also out in force . Weather remains fantastic. Sunny and glassy calm. We will be concentrating on mackerel fishing around Chumpon pinnacle for the rest of […]
