Summer fishing

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 2

Summer is well and truly upon us. Early starts help us to beat the heat, and hopfully enjoy a decent early morning bite. Most fishing this season is at the pinnacles or fads. Standard day is a mix of trolling and livebaiting, approx 4 hours of each. Pls contact me directly for more info or to schedule a booking. 6am-2pm max 2 persons.

Customer testimonial

Email/pics recieved this week from satisfied customer R.L. in the UK. Had 2 fantastic days out with Marc off Koh Tao, one in early January when we caught Travelly and a King Mackerel and again late March when we caught Dolphin fish. On both days other boats in area failed to catch. Having been fishing off Koh Toa before on other boats and had to endure other non anglers on boat, inferior and poorly maintained tackle that failed when big fish hooked it was pleasing to find Marc’s tackle of […]

Spring action 2013

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

Weather and fishing have been excellent so far this season. Mahi are here in huge numbers and also bigger than average size, mackerel are coming on the bite, but a bit hit and miss. One day will be biting very quickly while the next day with identical conditions may not even give a single bite. Marlin have been biting at the FADs, and also inshore nearby sandbanks and Nangyuan, sometimes even at the pinnacles. Adam caught this lovely little black marlin a few days ago with a trolled rapala just […]

Dry docking

Many apologies to bookings in the 2nd half of march. I must take the boat out of the water tomorrow as it has sprung a serious leak. Expect to be back in business before the end of the month. I can arrange for a friend to take you fishing, or you can book up with the group tours until my boat is repaired.

June 2012 update

Apologies for no updates for a while. Fishing has been good since last report, although with virtually no customers I have been only targetting mackerel, mainly at Chumpon pinnacles. Most days its possible to catch a few, sizes as usual between 6 and 10kg. Picture was taken last week, James and Suzy with a few of their 7 mackerel from that morning. It was a rare day when we could catch them of live baits, dead baits and jigs. Next week I have a few days charter and we will […]

Since the commercial fishing ban started on 15th Feb, action has picked up. Mackerel have started biting well at the pinnacles, and some mahi around further offshore. Fishing should remain good until at least 15th May when the netters and trawlers will start fishing again. GoongHeng2 from Sweden is back for his spring fishing break. Heres 2 mackerel caught on the morning of the 25th.9kg and 6kg. I have lots of free days this month, pls contact me for more info.

Happy New Year!

By: | Tags: , , , , , | Comments: 0

After a month of windy weather and almost no chance to go fishing, the monsoon is finally winding down. Yesterday we got out and had a great day trolling near Nangyuan. Tobias from Sweden landed this nice marlin. It was his 10th trip or thereabouts so it was nice to see him catch something worthwhile after so many days of snapping rods, losing fish, and catching 6 inch snappers. I have some available days before 17th January. Contact me to make any reservations.

November update

The NE monsoon hasn’t arrived yet. Most days calm and sunny, although water visibility is quite poor. I have reluctantly given up chasing mackerel out at the pinnacles and am putting the time towards sailfish. Most catches are inshore, either trolling surface lures, or livebaiting at anchor. There are lots of sails in the bay now, and the netters are still busy catching crabs, its the new fashion and long may it continue. If we have a season where the sailfish go unmolested it may put Koh Tao on the […]

Autumn 2011 update

As expected sailfish are showing in the bay, more than a few marlin also present. Yesterday we were very quickly spooled fishing at sandbank by a medium sized marlin. Lots of small marlin at Chumpon pinnacle unfortunately taking livebaits meant for the late season¬†mackerel. SW pinnacle also fishing very well although its being long-lined almost every day by a taxi boat. Very clever! Homemade outrigger working very well and will be doing more trolling inshore this year, primarily targetting sailfish. So average monsoon fishing day would be an hour or […]
